Borrowed Beliefs
Most of the beliefs you hold aren’t even yours.
The foundation of your identity.
The rules you live by.
The choices you make for your future.
Most of it was planted in you by others.
Repeated long enough.
Drilled into you until you believed it—without ever questioning.
And yet, people fight for those beliefs like zombies.
Defending ideas they never chose.
Never tested.
Never understood.
There’s a famous experiment:
Five monkeys in a cage.
A ladder with bananas at the top.
Every time a monkey climbed the ladder, the group was sprayed with cold water.
Soon, the monkeys pulled each other down.
Not for the bananas.
But to avoid punishment.
One by one, the researchers replaced the monkeys.
Newcomers tried to climb.
The others beat them back.
Eventually, not a single original monkey was left.
No one had seen the cold water.
No one knew why the ladder was forbidden.
And still—not a single monkey dared touch the bananas.
Do you see the similarity?
That’s how most people live.
Blind obedience to ideas they never examined.
If you want to break the trap, you need to challenge
all of the beliefs you have—even if you think they are yours and correct.
Whenever someone tells you something,
whether it’s a close friend, a stranger, or the TV, always ask yourself:
What’s this person’s objective?
Do they have my best interest in mind?
Do they live by what they preach?
Do i want a similar outcome for my life?
If a skinny geek tells you how to get big biceps, think twice before taking his advice.
If a man with arms forged through years of training explains his method—pay attention.
Because he is the proof.
Apply this filter to everything you hear.
Only then will you start making decisions for yourself.
Decisions not poisoned by someone else’s agenda.
Because maybe… just maybe…
What you saw—someone wanted you to see.
What you heard—someone wanted you to hear.
And maybe—that someone doesn’t care about your good.
Social media is “free”?
No.
You pay with your attention.
Your focus.
Your sanity.
They get control over what your brain consumes.
You get dopamine hits while your mind is rewired.
This is why you must analyze every belief you hold.
Break it down.
Question it.
Test it.
Because beliefs shape your life.
And only by questioning them can you break free from the mental prison.
